Learn how to create a CMS collection in Webflow from A to Z: field types, items, and Collection Lists.
In this tutorial, Sandro, cofounder of Gemeos Webflow agency, shows you how to create a CMS collection in Webflow from start to finish.
1. Create the collection
In the left panel of the Designer, click the CMS icon (database). Click Add Collection. Give your collection a name (e.g. "Articles," "Projects," "Members").
2. Define your fields
Click Add Field for each field you need. Choose the right type for your content (text, image, date, reference...). Set required fields and default values. The Name and Slug fields are created automatically.
3. Add your first items
In the CMS Collections tab, click your collection and add items. Fill in the fields you defined and publish the items.
4. Create the Collection List in the Designer
Drag the Collection List element onto your page. In Settings, connect it to your collection. Design the template for each item in the list.
