How to Transfer a Webflow Project to a Client
Learn how to hand off a Webflow project to a client: transfer methods, roles, and hosting migration.
In this tutorial, Sandro, cofounder of the Gemeos Webflow agency, shows you how to transfer a Webflow project to a client.
1. Method 1: Transfer the project
In Project Settings > General, scroll down to Transfer Project. Enter the client's Webflow account email. The client gets an invitation to accept the project in their workspace. Once they accept, the project appears in their workspace and you lose owner access (you'll still be a collaborator if you added yourself).
2. Method 2: Add the client as an Admin
If you want to keep the project in your workspace while giving the client full access, add them as an Admin in Project Settings > Collaborators. They get every permission except billing.
3. Transfer the hosting plan
If the project is hosted on your Webflow plan, the client will need to subscribe to their own hosting plan after the transfer. Plan this transition with your client ahead of time, and factor in the DNS migration delay.
Conclusion
Transferring a Webflow project only takes a few clicks in Project Settings.
