How to Add a Cookie Banner in Webflow
Learn how to add a GDPR-compliant cookie banner to your Webflow website: native, Cookiebot, Axeptio, and GTM.
In this tutorial, Sandro, co-founder of the Gemeos Webflow agency, shows you how to add a cookie banner to your Webflow website.
1. Native Webflow solution
Webflow offers a basic cookie banner in Project Settings > Cookie Consent. Turn it on, customize the message and colors. It’s limited when it comes to GDPR compliance: no granular control by cookie category.
2. Cookiebot or Axeptio (recommended)
For robust GDPR compliance, install Cookiebot or Axeptio. Create an account, set up your cookie categories, copy the provided script, and paste it into Project Settings > Custom Code > Head. These tools automatically block third-party scripts (GA4, Meta Pixel) until the user accepts.
3. Connect it to Google Tag Manager
To make sure GTM only fires GA4 and Meta Pixel after consent, set up consent variables in GTM (Consent Mode v2). Your cookie banner tools handle sending consent signals to GTM automatically.
Conclusion
A cookie banner is required for any site with analytics or ad pixels. See also: add GTM to Webflow.
