How to Connect a Domain Name in Webflow
Learn how to connect a custom domain to Webflow: DNS, A and CNAME records, and publishing.
In this tutorial, Sandro, cofounder of the Gemeos Webflow agency, shows you how to connect a custom domain to your Webflow project.
1. Add your domain in Webflow
In your Webflow project, go to Publishing > Custom Domains. Click Add Domain and enter your domain (for example: monsite.fr). Webflow will show you the DNS records to create with your registrar.
2. Set up your DNS with your registrar
Log in to your registrar (OVH, Namecheap, Cloudflare...). For the root domain (monsite.fr), create an A record pointing to the Webflow IP address provided. For the www subdomain, create a CNAME record pointing to proxy.webflow.com. DNS propagation takes anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours.
3. Check and publish
Back in Webflow Publishing, click Check DNS. Once the connection is confirmed, publish your site on the custom domain. SSL is enabled automatically by Webflow.
Conclusion
The DNS connection is live as soon as Webflow validates the records. Also check out our tutorial on enabling SSL on Webflow.
