How to Create a GEO-Optimized FAQ Page

Why the FAQ format is ideal for GEO

LLMs are trained on billions of question-and-answer pairs. When your content follows that format, it’s easier to extract and reuse. A well-structured FAQ answers several distinct queries on a single page, multiplying your chances of being cited.

1. Choose the right questions

The questions that perform best in GEO are the ones your prospects and clients actually ask LLMs. To find them:

  • Test your target queries in ChatGPT and Perplexity, then note the related questions they suggest
  • Check the "People also ask" section in Google for your main keywords
  • Analyze the queries in your Search Console that contain question words (how, why, what, how much)
  • Ask your sales team about the questions prospects keep asking

Avoid purely self-promotional questions like "Why choose [your company]?" They’re useless for LLMs because they don’t answer a question someone would actually ask an AI engine. Focus on industry and educational questions that showcase your expertise.

2. Write LLM-ready answers

Each answer should:

  • Start with a direct answer in 1 to 2 sentences (answer the question immediately, with no intro)
  • Include numbers or specific facts whenever possible
  • Stand on its own: it should make sense without reading the other FAQ questions
  • Run 50 to 200 words: dense enough to be useful, short enough to be extracted easily

3. Structure the page with the right HTML tags

In Webflow, each question should be an H3 (or H2, depending on your page hierarchy). The answer should sit in a paragraph directly under the heading. Don’t use accordion components for strategic FAQs: content hidden by default is less likely to be indexed.

4. Add Schema.org FAQPage markup

5. Organize your FAQs by theme
