Opale Capital: art direction, design and Webflow website for an asset manager specialising in private markets

Opale Capital, an asset management company backed by Tikehau Capital, makes private equity, private debt and infrastructure accessible: a selection of funds from institutional managers, open to private investors and to the wealth professionals who advise them.

Opale Capital entrusted Gemeos, a web agency for finance, with modernising its look & feel, the design and Webflow development of its new website, and its SEO structure.

Modernising a financial brand without breaking with it

Opale Capital's existing site no longer reflected its positioning. It had to speak at once to the wealth management advisers, family offices and private banks that distribute its funds, and to the private investors who subscribe directly. The brief was clear: a modernisation, not a break. Keep the blue and yellow, stay institutional without looking austere, neither too dark nor too mass-market.

Gemeos explored three look & feel directions around the opal, keeping the logo and the blue and yellow pairing, then designed and built the site on Webflow: asset classes, strategies, selection process, partner area, team, Opale Academy, blog and FAQ, with a structure designed for SEO.

Look & Feel

The opal as material, the brand as a landmark

The name already carries the story: a rare stone with shifting reflections, born from a slow maturation, like a private investment built over several years. The existing logo, OPALE in geometric capitals with the yellow bar of its E, is kept as is. The work covers everything around it: colours, typefaces, images and components.

Three directions were presented, each with its intention, palette, typefaces and a complete home page. The chosen direction makes the opal a visual signature: its material is inlaid in the corners of the photographs, which makes every image on the site recognisable and hard to imitate.

The palette keeps the requested blue and yellow, in new tones: a dark blue (#1A2230) for seriousness, a light blue (#9FB8E0), a yellow (#FFCD6E) reserved for actions, and soft tones, sage green, blue grey and beige (#E7E5D8), for backgrounds. Headings are set in Newsreader Light, a fine serif that sets the institutional register; body text in Gothic A1. Two Google fonts that can be used without installation in presentations and internal documents, as the team wished.

  • Opale Capital logo in dark blue on a beige background, the bar of the E in yellow
  • Opale Capital logo in white on a dark blue background
  • Opale Capital palette: dark blue, medium dark blue, blue, yellow, sage green, blue grey and beige
  • Opale Capital hero photograph and a detail of the opal material inlaid in its corner
  • Newsreader Light for headings and Gothic A1 for body text: a large dark blue “Aa”
  • Private debt card from the site, the opal material in the corner of the photograph
  1. Direction 1 - The opal material

The opal becomes a proprietary visual asset: its material is subtly inlaid in the photographs. A fine serif for headings, square shapes and sharp corners for rigour. It is the chosen direction, the basis of the site.

  2. Direction 2 - Opalescence in light

The direction that embraces colour: gradients and plays of transparency that echo the opal's hues, rounded buttons and landscapes in which investors can picture themselves. Intended perception: upmarket and accessible.

  3. Direction 3 - Muted elegance

The codes of discreet luxury: a warm yellow and a deep blue on light backgrounds, images treated like paintings for a wealth management clientele. Intended perception: institutional seriousness.

Web Design

One site for the investor and for their adviser

The difficulty of the brief came down to one sentence: speak as much to wealth professionals as to private investors. The site steers them from the menu, with a separate Partners area, and from the login, with two entries: investor or partner. Each asset class and each strategy has its own page, explaining how it works and its risks before suggesting the next step.

PageWhat it does for the visitor
HomeThe promise “Access exceptional private markets”, the three asset classes, the reasons to invest with Opale, the selection process, Opale Academy and the journal
Investing in private marketsPrivate equity, private debt, infrastructure: a page per asset class, with how it works, its risks and its FAQ
StrategiesGrowth, venture capital, LBO and co-investment, brought together in “Our investment strategies”
FundsAll the selected funds and a page per fund
MethodOur selection process, How to subscribe?, and the presentation of partner managers
PartnersAn area for wealth advisers, family offices and private banks, with its contact form
The companyAbout us, Our teams with a page per team member, In the press
ResourcesBlog, Opale Academy videos, podcasts, webinars, white papers and FAQ
LoginTwo entry points: the investor area and the partner area

Pages alternate dark and beige backgrounds, with large photographs of people at work rather than abstract illustrations. The same building blocks recur everywhere: asset class cards that flip on hover, key figures below the hero, numbered steps, team cards, FAQ accordions. One more page can be assembled without going back to design.

Webflow Development

A site the Opale Capital team runs on its own

The site is built on Webflow. Articles and their categories, team profiles, funds, FAQ topics and Opale Academy videos live in CMS collections, each served by a single template: publishing an article or adding a team member takes no layout work. The old site's content was migrated into these collections.

The interactions echo the design's gestures: a mega menu that opens on hover, flipping cards, FAQ accordions. Fund pages open behind a warning reserved for qualified investors, and every page carries the private markets risk notice in its footer.

  • Resources menu opening on hover, with the latest blog articles
  • Selection process FAQ accordion
  • Partner area contact form
  • Our selection process and How to subscribe? pages on mobile

SEO

Explaining private markets before offering them

An investor searches for “investir en private equity” (investing in private equity), “dette privée” (private debt) or “courbe en J” (J-curve) long before looking for an asset manager. The site is structured for these searches: a page per asset class and per strategy, a journal organised by topic and short answers to frequently asked questions.

Asset class, strategy and method pages end with an FAQ marked up question by question: short, precise answers on the minimum ticket, exiting before maturity or fund selection. The home page's structured data describes the company, its business and its reference shareholder, which helps search engines and AI assistants place Opale Capital.
